The firearms review is still ongoing. At this stage, no details have been released although we understand that one of the changes to be implimented will be the requirement of re-licensing firearms on an open license every 5 years. We also understand that in the future, all firearms transactions must take place through a licensed dealer. We believe that this policy is to bring Western Australia into line with the eastern states. As mentioned earlier, Australia Post will handle all applications for firearm licenses. The cost of each application is also set to increase as a result of the proposed changes.
